STAMPEDE
About the Trial
The Systemic Therapy in Advancing or Metastatic Prostate Cancer: Evaluation of Drug Efficacy trial is a multi arm multistage platform started in 2005, randomizing over 10,000 men to date. It showed abiraterone added to androgen deprivation improves survival in both hormone naive and relapsing disease, docetaxel early benefits metastatic patients, radiotherapy helps low volume metastasis, and zoledronic acid adds nothing. The platform design lets multiple questions share one control group, saving years and millions compared with separate trials. STAMPEDE reshaped prostate cancer treatment and influenced later platform trials, including RECOVERY during the COVID 19 pandemic.
