About the Trial
ROCKET AF randomized 14,264 atrial fibrillation patients to rivaroxaban 20 mg daily or warfarin. Rivaroxaban was non inferior for stroke prevention, with less fatal and intracranial bleeding. Once daily dosing simplified adherence compared with twice daily dabigatran. The trial enriched for higher risk patients, average CHADS2 score 3.5, proving the drug worked where it mattered most. ROCKET AF contributed to the rapid DOAC takeover of warfarin for atrial fibrillation. Post marketing experience later refined dosing in renal impairment, and factor Xa reversal agents like andexanet alfa closed the last safety gap of the class.
